CBSE 2026 Sample Papers Are Out — Here Is What Actually Changed
A chapter-by-chapter read of the new sample papers across Commerce and Science, and where the competency-based weightage moved.
The 2026 sample papers went up last week. Most of the noise online is about question counts; the actual change is in where the competency-based questions sit and what they now expect you to do with a data set.
Economics: the data interpretation shift
Macroeconomics has moved a chunk of its six-mark weightage into case-based questions built on a short data table. The underlying theory is unchanged, but you are now expected to compute from the table rather than reproduce a definition.
Accountancy: company accounts steady
No structural change. Share capital and debentures continue to carry the long practical questions, and the Schedule III presentation requirement is unchanged.
Physics and Chemistry
Assertion-reason questions have increased by two in both papers, taken from the one-mark pool. Practically this means less recall and more reading comprehension under time pressure.
